Sash
The movable, or removable, part of a window; A frame that holds one or more panes of glass. Sashes can be "hung" as in double-hung windows.
They can also be tape balanced, spiral balanced or friction balanced. In the case of swing-in casement windows, they are attached with a hinge, and in the case of exterior storm windows, they can be hung from storm brackets or secured with turnbuttons. Sash does not refer to the rope.
